Phil Chen: “Dear Marco, I played with Bob Marley in London at Wembley early 1970 when if my memory serves me right I was with Johnny Nash Band (as you know Johnny Nash was bringing Bob Marley along I believe Reggae on Broadway was in order and I believe he had a interest in the songs with producer Danny Sims). I also played with Jackie Edwards, Jimmy Cliff and Count Prince Miller on the show

Marco Virgona: Do you remember the venue of that concert?

Phil Chen: Wembley Stadium

Marco Virgona: Any other memory about Bob or about that show?
Phil Chen: Bob was just coming up and was added by Johnny Nash I guess to test the waters… Other members of the band are Richard Bailey on drums… can’t remember who else.. I played with Jimmy Cliff (on guitar), Jackie Edward (on bass), Count Prince Miller (on bass), Johnny Nash and Bob Marley (on bass). We did only one concert with Bob but did hang with them, Bob Marley and the Wailers at house, studios and I was at the live show at Lyceum and backstage. If I remember well I did sessions also with Junior Kerr (now Junior Marvin) for Rico Rodriguez (trombone player) and also Keef Hartley band on Lancashire Hustler LP and he may have done the Jim Capaldi LP with me also… can’t quite remember… I did a cd call FAMILY with Joe Higgs but I can’t remember getting credit or pay- God bless him– and live gigs with him also and with Skatalites, Prince Buster, Derrick Morgan, Lynn Tait, Owen Grey etc also played with Desmond Dekker, Millie Small (I have a pic of the three of us) and I was the musical director for Ernest Ranglin (he played with Marley on It Hurts To Be Alone). I do have a pic of Richard Bailey, Ernest and myself in front of a Bob Marley poster, great show, we all played with Bob at one time or another”
