Don’t gain the world and lose your soul, wisdom is better than silver or gold…”Bob Marley

Bob Marley is one of the world’s most prolific and powerful musical visionaries of the 20th century. A prophet whose message transcended all categories and classes, his music remains timeless and truly universal in both its melodies and its messages. A truly fascinating man that was taken from the world too soon, his legacy after death remains as influential as it was during his life, if not greater. It is with great pride that Mr Musichead Gallery presents the first annual visual tribute to this hero on what would have been his 65th birthday.

Gallery director and exhibit curator Sam Milgrom has gathered classic and rare photographs and artworks from around the world. This amazing exhibit will also include iconic album cover images, original paintings, mixed media, wood stain, mosaic tile and rare concert posters. Notable photographers include: Adrian Boot, Dennis Morris, Lynn Goldsmith, Lee Jaffee, John Rowlands, Arthur Gorson, Leni Sinclair, and Ian Dickson. Artists include Michael Reinhardt, Gary Houston, Chico Munson, Leah Devorah, Jim Doody, Scott Rockland, and Neil Ratnavira, amongst others. There are over16 photographers and artists with Marley images on display, and rare collectibles such as books and posters will also be available for purchase.

The evening will mark the first of an annual celebration at the gallery and will include the reggae sounds of Indie 103.1’s DJ Native Wayne. Marley Coffee will provide fresh brewed tastings.

Admission to the event is $10. The Bob Marley Foundation will donate all charitable proceeds from this event to Doctors Without Borders.

The Bob Marley Family and Bob Marley Foundation are deeply saddened and affected by the devastation in Haiti. As we prepare to celebrate our father’s 65th birthday and continue his life’s charitable work for the underprivileged in our homeland, we also wish to align forces with ‘Doctors Without Borders’ in their efforts to bring critical medical attention and relief to those suffering in Haiti. To that end, we will donate all charitable proceeds from a world premiere art event to be held in Bob Marley’s honor on February 6th in Los Angeles.” – Cedella Marley

Sponsors include The Bob Marley Foundation, Marley Coffees, VIBE Magazine, and Guitar Center.

Opened in 1998, Mr Musichead Gallery is LA’s only gallery devoted to featuring a vast and unique collection of album cover art, poster art, fine art and photography that chronicles rock ‘n’ roll’s rich heritage. Gallery events have included both LA and world premiere exhibits of photographer Neil Zlozower; the fine art of Jerry Garcia, Incubus’ Brandon Boyd and British Illustration legend Alan Aldridge; a Jimi Hendrix album cover photography show with Karl Ferris, and the Pink Floyd album cover designs of Storm Thorgerson.

In 2010 the gallery was chosen as the premiere music related art gallery for MusiCares Person of the Year Awards honoring Neil Young, donating thousands of dollars of artwork for their silent auction at the event. Owner and founder, Sam Milgrom, established himself in Detroit as a cutting edge, influential music retailer and live concert venue owner who has now set his sights specifically on the LA music/art scene. He has curated over a dozen photographic exhibits including Bob Gruen, Danny Clinch, Barrie Wentzell, Bill Wyman, Ethan Russell, Francis Wolff, and Henry Diltz.
