In regard to the picture of Bob made from bottle caps, where it mentioned the inspiration of the big posters composed in part of record labels, there is an interesting background to it which you may share with your readers.
When Island was putting together the “Songs of Freedom” box set, Trevor Wyatt, the compiler, asked me to take pictures of all my records labels. He used them in the book, and later as the inside front cover of the “Songs of Freedom” hard cover book. They did not ask my permission to use them in the book, and eventually settled with me for $1,000 for the pictures usage.
Not long after, various formats of the little-picture composite portrait of Bob began appearing, using the same set of my pictures. All attempts to contact the company were rebuffed. With a magnifying glass one can clearly see autographs on several of the discs, corresponding to those on my own personal collection, so I know they’re my shots. I’ve spent lots of money buying copies of these posters, found in many different countries.
But despite huge continuing sales of this poster, I have yet to see a penny for the dozens of pictures of mine that they employed in its creation.
