Yesterday was an intense day for all, so psychologically exhausting but gratifying. The day of the Marleys, a very important surname, sometimes uncomfortable in order to really judge an artist, a surname discussed but loved by everyone. Ziggy, Rita, Kymani, each of them with their own story and career, join their vibrations together on a stage that makes them the protagonists. Rita, the queen of the Rototom, wanders around the festival, letting herself get photographed or signing autographs to all those who ask for it or simply stops to shake hands with them. She goes on stage called by Ziggy, to finish an unforgettable show, in which mother and son sing together “One love”
Ziggy presents many of the songs from his last album and honors his father. He reminds Bob a lot on stage, eventhough throughout the years he has built his own personality, growing more artistically. He stays serious and professional during his appearance at the festival, but does not deny photos and interviews. He appears sweet at his meeting with Rita at the radio tent. Even Kymani’s knee problem and considering the doctor has advised him to rest, he cancels all the dates of his tour apart from Rototom, and this is not the only promise he keeps. He presents his book “Dear dad” at the Reggae University, where he tells the story of his life, the relationship with the family and goes on the stage. He also tributes his father, singing many of his songs, smiles and seems very pleased with the audience.
Roger Steffens, American prominent historic collector expert on Bob Marley, tells us with emphasis, the history of Bob through his videos and
books, very much appreciated by the audience.
Just for one night, I would have loved to change mu surname and become Ivan Marley. Yesterday we were all a little bit Marley…Who knows what my father will tell when I get home!
