MARLEY TO TOP GARDEN PARTY

The Crystal Palace garden party is being resurrected in june - with Bob Marley and the Wailers flying in to top the bill.
The Average White Band will also be coming to London for the festival, joining the Joe Jackson Band and Q-tips to complete the bill.
The "Summer of 80 Garden Party" as it's being titled- is set for saturday, June 7, and, like yhe old garden party events, will be held at Crystal palace concert bowl. Gates open at noon and festivities run from 2pm-8pm.
Tickets are ?7 in advance, or ?7.50 on the day (including VAT) by personal application from may 5 to the ticket Machine, Virgin Megastore, 14 Oxford Street, London W1, with a 30p booking fee charged per ticket.
Alternatively, ticket applications may be made by post ti Garden party, GP productions, PO box 4tl, London W1A, enclosing postal orders only payable to GP productions. Tickets are also available by personal application to all London branches of Virgin.
Crystal palace garden parties were regular summer rock events during the early Seventies, and the last one was held in August, 1976, with a bill that included Eric Clapton, Larry Ceryell, the Chieftains, Freddie King, and Jess Roden. This time round, though, the evnt is staged by Umbrella Promotions.
