After Bob passed, there was talk of who would be the "next Bob Marley." Well, in regards to that question Time DID Tell. Twenty-six years after Bob's transition we all know such talk was foolish and ridiculously presumptive. There is no heir, Bob is an impossible act to follow. This leaves us in the fortunate position to return to his music and his teachings time and again. It's all there. One need not look any further. The message was delivered and delivered brilliantly. Today is a day to reflect and celebrate the man and his legacy - so much accomplished in such a short time. God Bless You Bob Marley.
Rasta can't dead. Bob lives.
one bright morning.....
I love you Bob
...when man work is over, man will fly away home
is it true that bob prophasised that he was going to die when he did?
thank you bob in so many ways for all the gifts you have provided me
I posted this message on the Yahoo forum:
Raspec to Bob. My status today on Facebook reads:
Dinesh is holding a firm meditation on the life of the
KING (Bob Marley; February 6th 1945 to May 11th 1981)
It's been 26 long years since he walked the earth but
his message is as relevant as ever. The music
sounds like it was recorded yesterday. Bob is timeless and
Universal. Selassie is the earth rightful and Babylon
ah guh mash up - as Bob seh, mi nuh even haffi tell
yuh dat

Thanks Bob - the work you did will go on forever. May 11th is no different to any other day for me - I think about the LIFE of the great man everyday.
I give thanks that there is a forum like this that all of us Bob FANatics can come together and feel alright...
Blessed
I'll be forever loving Bob

the world lost Bob Marley, and to the best of my knowledge he remains the most irreplaceable artist to ever enter into the collective-consciousness of our world. The next time you are in a music store or a Borders, Barnes & Noble, etc. Notice all of the different types of music displayed on the placards atop the shelves of cds. There?s Pop, Hip hop, Rap, Classical, Country, R & B, etc. There is also a reggae section and what makes the reggae section so different from all of the other forms of music is that its presence is due solely to the rise and reign of one man. Not to suggest there aren?t/weren?t other talanted reggae singers and players of instrument, but none of them can touch Bob in terms of songwriting, originality and capacity to unite people from different cultures the world over. And every other reggae artist knows this. It?s indisputable. Without Bob Marley, reggae would not be respected and recognized as its own form of music substantial enough to warrant its own little section amongst all of the world?s other ?recognized? classifications of music. Bob is missed and as time has proven, he possessed both a talent and an appeal that was other-worldly.
I was in Kingston Ja, when it was announced.....da skies opened up, thunders clamped & it poured all day.......yeah, even da Gods cried dat day.
...and not one thing written about it on the official bob marley website bobmarley.com?

no because only for us (for us white people?) the date of 11 may is important
for jamaican people and i think for rasta people only the anniversary of bob's birthday is important

Well I am Jamaican and not white and I think May 11 is important. I remember up until about the mid 1990s May 11 was celebrated as much as February 6th. The 10th anniversary of May 11th was almost as big as Bob's 50th birthday in terms of media coverage - clips of the funeral were shown on TV and his music was inescapable on the airwaves. May 11th is still remembered just not to the extent that it was before - one of last friday's papers had an article on Bob for instance. I think February 6th has taken on greater importance than May 11th because the Marley family wants it that way - supposedly Rastas don't believe in death...

2 days ago, ive been on really great tribute to Bob that was played by Lee Perry, massive show filled with all the studio one classics, rocksteady versions and he talked bout Bob with highest respect. he played along with Twinkle Brothers, their Crazy Baldheads killed the audience, never heard such a rootsdub version of this song.
Hail Bob.
