View Full Version : Boston 78 Late Show
wolfgang's vault now offers the 1978 Boston late (!) show as a web stream download
I've just started mine and although it's in mono and some songs are incomplete, it still seems to be an interesting performance...for example, lots of improvised aka alternative lyrics during "Burning and Looting"

I have this show, but it's called "New Bingey Hall Staffordshire '78". Listen to Concrete Jungle, No Woman, Jammin, and the War/GUSU/Exodus medley, it's the same, so Stffordshire doesn't exist??
interesting point...I believe you are right, these recordings are from the same show...obviously from different sources but still the same concert...it becomes very obvious when you compare the first thiry seconds of "No More Trouble"
now the question remains: which one is correctly labelled? I tend to think it is Boston, for two reasons: as far as I know Wolfgang's Vault sits as close to the master tapes of their streams as you can get and then, the War / NMT / Get up stand up / Exodus encore has so far only been found twice: Philadelphia and Boston (Early Show)...consecutive performances at the very start of the tour (Boston Late would be the third in that row)...after these, War / No More Trouble was always part of the regular set (with the exception of New York, but there no "No More Trouble") ...
it will be interesting to follow the thoughts of our other Marley experts, though...
Don't trust everything from Wolfgangs Vault when it comes to Bob. I have asked them several very specific questions about their Marley stuff and no one there really knows what they are talking about whne it comes to Bob. At this point much of their Bob stuff is no longer coming from the collection of Bill, they are simply buying items from people as well as obtaining shows etc.
They will do no research on a show like this, they will simply take whatever info is supplied to them. and pass it on
still...the set list featured on this show fits so much better into the early US part of the Kaya Tour than into the European leg...
Yes you are right. My post really had nothing to do with the show or set list just WGV. I think it is from the US too.

So perhaps we can setup trades with them to get lossless versions of what they have !
I am not sure if trading for marley shows is high on their priority list  in fact, I believe the three shows they offer now is all they got
I think they have also the Hammersmith Odeon show from 1976
now that would be something...what makes you believe that?
i wish we could buy these gems.. great shows! so is it stradfire or not?
I think the general consensus right now is that Staffordhsite has always been mislabelled and that it indeed is part of the Boston Late Show, albeit from a different source
This may be my new favorite show. Holy ****, is Bob not amazing and pumped up during this set or what!!
So Ice, is there a way to download the stream and not just listen to it? I just streamed through it at work today (2 times) and found myself rewinding ceratin little sections like crazy. :) :P :D :)
yeah joe
i recorded it already
i will put it online soon,
Peace
i will put it online soon
The stream is already up on Piratebay.
thanks i will check it,
is it recorded correctly?
Wa/no more trouble, Crazy Baldhead>RunningAway, Get up, exodus combined and stuff?
Ritesh, Is that you next to Bob in your avatar?
I've have put up an edited version on marleytoshtorrents, I cut out the two second gaps and fixed the indexes...and yes, I assume you could at least my seed call "correctly recorded"
for my own listening pleasured I also generated a "fake stereo" mix - that one is not uploaded, though
thanks Ice Highly appreciated!
Joe yes thats bob!
Check the pic section i will put it there
Hi Ice
Thanks for the download.
However, and i don't want to be very picky, you used a bitrate of 747 kbps and not 1411 kbps when you recorded it. There is a lot of quality loss in this recording.
Just wanted to let you know,
Still great recording and many thanks!
Peace
Ritesh
Ritesh,
I know that is Bob, I recognize him from the dreadlocks :), I was asking if that is you next to him in your avatar?
damned, yes lol thats me
just got home from work when i read your post. Guess i was a bit tired!
Thanks, now go get some sleep. May you dream of carrot sized cones and sweet binghi beats. Just like me:)
hey everyone.. when recording this from stream.. is it lossy and mono sound? can anyone give me info on this? also have you recorded the early show and oakland 79?
peace and love
ritesh-- good seeing you here again
Hi nesta
yes man, i was on and off for a while, just graduated 6 months ago and now working long days, also had a move from houses so it has been a busy time
i believe i still owe you a showto send,
please send me your wantlist ad i will pick few and send you.
peace
www streams are always considered lossy
to my ears the Boston Late show sounds mono...as I wrote before, for my personal use I generated a "fake" stereo mix
can't talk for others but I have also downloaded and edited the other two shows
i understand what you mean, but a mono recording should not bring down the quality, that is what has been happened with your recording.
does someone have compared this show with others ??
is it a "new" show??
what do you mean: that is what has happened with my recording? it was streamed in mono, I did not alter it at all...what you hear is the way I downloaded it
however, I did check it the stream again and now it's being offered in wide stereo...I really don't know if they changed their material, if I had bandwidth problems the day I downloaded it or what else...
thanks for your comment, it made me check again
strangest thing:
last night I started to re-download the concert, all in perfect stereo sound...
this morning I found out that the stream was interrupted during "War" so I wanted to start again from there...but now it's mono again...so my only explanation is that is has indeed something to with bandwidth issues...
oh well, I just just to have for the stereo stream again to finish it all in great quality
so the one you uploaded was MONO?

this is based on the original web stream as linked about
what I did is erase the 2 second gaps between songs, create fades
for the incomplete tracks and slightly alter the track indexes
just to be sure...but thanks a lot anyway!
yeah, it apparently was...that's the way it was streamed when I initially downloaded it...well, that's they way it arrived on my end of the connection...
if there is a demand for it I could upload the enhanced version
someone with high speeds should download all three shows.. both early and late shows from boston and also the oakland.. the oakland has no flaws its an amazing show none the less.. if i knew how to do this kinda stuff i would so do it..
love and respect to you all
daniel
as I wrote above: I re-downloaded the shows and now I got them in perfect quality
