Robert Nesta Marley
Hmm....hard one indeed! Of the classic artists I would go for Bunny Wailer (for his live performances, absolutely not for his recent albums) of course:-) Dennis Brown is another gigant! Of the modern artists I would vote for Luciano, though his albums is often of uneven quality, Garnet Silk of course, Beres Hammond, Capleton i blazin?, Michael Rose check out his Collie man tune, Earl 16...well if I just had to vote for just one I probably would go for Burning Spear who still after all this years makes very good records. Big up to di Spear!
Ites!
/Dreadbear
in reggae music: burning spear
other: bruce springsteen
beh se parliamo di musica in generale... il migliore di tutti i tempi ? frank zappa!!
http://www.zappateers.com/bb/images/smiles/Z_moustache.gif
senza dimenticare: beatles, janis joplin e hendrix
... rolling stones, grateful dead e de andrè... poi... :-)
sorry but bunny sucks - for twenty years now he has been doing the same set list over and over again
I will have to vote for burning spear, no doubt it...there is also misty in roots but their recordings and live performances are way too sparse
I agree with Ice, actual Burning Spear has been more of an influence in my life then Bob.
Here is my new forum.

PERSONAGGI:
FRANK ZAPPA (il mito)
JIMI HENDRIX
DJ FRANCESCO (?)
-----Diciamo che sono vecchio stile
Muovi in alto la mano.....segui il tuo capitano......
SOSTITUISCO DJ FRANCESCO CON MICK JAGGER (come primo e grande Showman del rock)
oltre Marley ...
1) the wailers band
2) israel vibration
3) burning spear
battisti
insuperabili
mick jagger solo come showman.....

Gladiators

I know, I know, You probably think i'm crazy, but i love them so much. In 20 years of career they only made good albums, being able to change the style, always with very good and clever lyrics, and they did so much for reggae in Italy like nobody else. And finally They are really great on stage, so, for me they are on the olympus of reggae ever
I miei gruppi preferiti dopo bob marley & the wailers:
Peter tosh
Burning spears
Lee perry
Non reggae:
The doors
The blues brothers
Bo didley
andre 3000 & Snoop Dogg is beste in their truth message to hearts of society and in nice rhytms.

I think that Burning Spear has the most charisma and popularity to get close to Bob's work. He travels and tours the world until today , nearly every concert is sold out , he can fill big concert halls , can't say that from other artists.
Yeah, i saw Burning Spear many times, and always i felt in trance ! Lee Scratch was also high, The Abyssinnians were great too, the Gladiators, Dennis Brown was too ill when i saw him he just sang forty minutes, and many others, Steel pulse , toots, etc...that it is hard to make a hierarchy !!!

One of my favorite current bands is Midnite. They are also the backing back for Dezarie. She probably has one of the most amazing voices that I have ever heard. Both from St.Croix. If you haven't heard, go check it out.

What do you guys think about these songs from the early 80's personally its my favorite reggae style. They call it Rub-A-Dub and early dancehall, its still Jamaican with real instruments and everything so you all should like it. Uprising had a little rub-a-dub sound to it. Imagine if Bob lived longer cause it really took over from 80-83 and if his last album in 1980 had a little im sure his 81-83 releases would probably sound a little more like this. And that would be unbeliveably good. Scientist is the engineer on the Dub sections.
