you should add that especially during the uprising tour Neville Garrick would join in with additional percussions when they played outdoors at daytime hours, when no specific lighting was needed

also during the Survival tour Donald Kinsey added a third lead guitar during some of the california shows

Bob's last show is not very known. Many people said that Ian Wynter performed that night. It's not at 100% but I remember someone said that Earl or Tyrone were busy for family affairs

hmmmm...I believe you made a slight mistake there...I am very very sure that Tyrone is the first of the band members who is introduced during "Exodus", here is my personal transcription of that passage (starting at ca. 5:50)

Mr.Tyrowne Downie on the keyboards...Al Anderson on guitar...Carlton Barrett on drums...Familyman Barrett on bass...brother Seeco, brother Ian...Rastafari...my name is Junior...the Wailers...the I Threes...Bob Marley

I believe it was RasJack who once claimed that Wire did not show up because of his drug problems

In Pittsburg 80 Is tyrone who plays. Ian only organ (and play basically shuffle). Wya is not on stage. No clavinet Hohner. Is Tyrone who plays some clavinet riffs with syntethizer.

IN 74. Jamaica National Stadium. In video we can see not only Tyrone. The young playing organ shuffle is Bernard "Tiuter" Harvey. He plays in studio (Natty dread sessions) too

The original Inner Circle in Band wagon Tour is backing bans for more vocalist. This band was the root of Inner Circle (Lewis brothers, Touter...) and Third World. The classic Inner Circle is very relationed with PNP. Stephen "Cat" Coore found Inner Circle and later Third World (guitarrist).
Cat Coore?father was David Coore, minister of economy in Manley?s goverment.

In Smile jamaica Concert, Coore play bass with Bob. Another work for PNP.

Marco

you correctly stated that Neville Garrick would sometimes appear on stage during some of the "Uprising" day time concerts...the same is true for some of the 1979 shows; check for instance this picture from Maui 1979

marco
27-07-09, 09:48

ice

could be Neville Garrick on percussion, he would join the band on many daytime outdoor concerts in 1979 and 1980

joe

it's for sure not Neville. I don't know who that guy is. I would guess someone more like Desi Smith or somebody. In fact maybe it is Desi?

Its the same guy in both videos he plays the bass with the I threes during 1980 and then I guess during the tour he also came out during the Marley set some times to add some more percussion. He was also in tosh's band we have talked about this before. I dont know his name.

marco

I am looking for info about 1979 Survivor tour, specifically the November 17 concert at Kinsmen Field House in Edmonton Canada. My brother and I are trying to remember if someone opened for him, or if it was another band member who did some of the lead vocals?? I'd appreciate if anyone has information about who played with the band that night. We do agree it was the best concert ever.
Thanks!!

Al Anderson joined the band during early June of Kaya Tour. The first concert I think he is on is Spectrum Theatre 5th June. Then we see him on the footage from Canada, 9th June.

I think its that is why they added Heathen back into he tracklist the 8th June, so Junior could have a guitar solo again.

Footage from Landmark theatre 3rd June shows only Junior and the solos from Orpheum Theatre 25may is defintely Junior.

Already known? Anyone have more facts? Anyone have picture with the band from may 1978?

ice
24-06-10, 22:25
I've never heard this story and neither have I heard about footage from Landmark...I'm not saying that it's impossible but I would have thought they had a lot of rehearsals before they finally went on tour...kind of strange to join a band after a tour has already started...

With Landmark Theatre I mean the rehearsal before the show. You can only see Junior there.

Listen to solos on Rebel Music, Concrete Jungle, Them Belly Full & Burnin & Lootin from Orpheum Theatre 25May and you will notice its not Al :joint

We need pictures!

I have a second theory:

Since Al hadnt been in the band for 3 years, Junior took over the solos (no woman no cry, rebel music, them belly full, burnin and lootin etc) during the early parts of the tour

Later on Al could start taking over with his more rocking style.

But it still doesnt explain why there isnt any Al on the video/interview from Landmark Theatre 3rd June

Carly, seeco, ithrees, familyman, bob, junior, wire, tyrone but no Al....

marco

i have some photos from may 1978 but only with Bob on stage, not the band

well maybe he was sick, on the toilet, meeting friends....lots of possible explanations why he may not have participated

Who is the male voice singing backup on the Quiet Knight show of 75? It is often claimed that it was Junior Brathwaite who had relocated to Chicago and reunited with bob for the gig, but would he know the arrangements and would Bob, being the perfectionist, taken the risk of bringing someone onstage who hadn't been through the rigors of rehearsal?

josetxo

The male vocal is AL ANDERSON, in pics of 75 you can se his micro
