Peter Tosh?s love child looking for Swazi mom
06 August, 2009 10:00:00 By Timothy Simelane

A Rastafarian fanatic who claims to be son of the late Reggae King Peter Tosh is in the country searching for his Swazi mother who was impregnated by Tosh during his historic visit to hold a concert in 1983.
Exel Bergdahl, who estimates his age to be 25, says he was adopted as a toddler (about three years old) from Swaziland and taken to Sweden, where he was given foster parents.
He says he was adobted by an organisation which has an orphanage in Sweden.
Exel believes that his mother could have been so poor to raise him after the departure of Tosh, hence he was given up for adoption.
?But now, everyone says I resemble Peter Tosh,? he says.
He says he has no intentions to go back to Sweden because he is convinced that the couple which raised him is not his real parents. He says his Swedish identity is wrong and wants to reject it permanently.
?I have travelled to many countries looking for my real parents until I was informed by some people that that my father was Peter Tosh. I have vivid childhood memories of myself in an African country. This country is definitely Swaziland because I can understand when Swazis are speaking, though I cannot respond in the Siswati language,? he said.
Exel says he left his business and job as a bank teller in Sweden to look for his mother.
He arrived two months ago and says he will soon leave for Jamacia, where he will be hosted by the Tosh family.
Exel says he has gathered that his father had 10 other children in Jamaica.
?People who may know my mother can contact me on 674 9103, whilst I?m still in Swaziland.

PETER TOSH DID SLEEP WITH SWAZI WOMAN
07 August, 2009 10:00:00 By Nelsiwe Ndlangamandla

SLAIN reggae superstar, Peter Tosh was given three women to have sex with during his time in Swaziland in 1984, when he had come for a two-day performance at Somhlolo Stadium.
A retired policeman, who escorted the Jamaican musician, Mike Mango, said of the three ? two were South Africans and the third was a Swazi. Mango described the three as ?clean ladies? fit enough to sleep with the late reggae legend.
He was responding to a search by Exel Bergdahl from Sweden who is in the country looking for his Swazi mother. Exel claims that Tosh is his father.
Mango did not want to commit himself into speculating whether or not Exel may be the son of the ?clean? Swazi woman who slept with Tosh in 1984.
Mango also explained that Tosh was well guarded by his countrymen and the Swaziland police.
Mango would not disclose the identity of the Swazi woman ? but added that he has seen Exel and told him everything he knows.
Exel believes his Swazi mother was so poor she gave him up to a Swedish couple because she could not give him the comforts a son needs when growing up.
Mango said the three were well groomed and of good social standing ? meaning they were not poor.

Marco, I found that site where you took the photos from and it had some nice info. App. there were TWO Tosh concerts in Swaziland. :)

... Copeland also accompanied Peter on his second trip to the continent in 1983 when he performed two sold out shows in Swaziland for 30,000 people, some travelling from as far away as South Africa. On the second night, Peter stopped the show, refusing to continue unless the gates were opened for the additional 5,000 persons outside to come into the venue. As pandemonium broke out, the police high command and soldiers had to open the gate and as thousands entered the venue, Peter launched into his classic Apartheid, providing a powerful soundtrack for the moment.

artistes he has worked with on his journey, Copeland’s memory turns to Peter Tosh and includes Peter’s first African experience when he visited Nigeria for a month in 1982 as a guest of artiste Sonny Okuson. According to Forbes, it was this Nigerian visit that inspired the album Mama Africa which went gold in the US.

Copeland also accompanied Peter on his second trip to the continent in 1983 when he performed two sold out shows in Swaziland for 30,000 people, some travelling from as far away as South Africa.
