Re: Grammy 2011: Reggae

No doubt reggae is my most favorite style of music followed closely by all sorts of different music including Jamiroquai, solo acoustic guitar music, Tool, The Smiths, The Cult, Blues, Steel Pan music etc... But I also really really love hip hop. But there is a HUGE difference between good hip hop and bad, really bad hip hop. To my ears Nas is not good hip hop and I think many Americans agree. He is not really on the radar anymore. He had a couple of good songs over a decade ago and has since fell off. I personally can't stand the Distant Relatives album more or less due to Nas. Granted too Damian is not my most favorite of the sons. Ziggy and Ky-Mani are my 2 followed by Stephen, Julian then Damian.

Anyways, there is way more bad hip hop than good. Marco is right on the money. To me good hip hop is Mos Def, Eric B & Rakim, Run-DMC, EPMD (Old School) etc....

But the best hip hop ever to my ears is going on right now. The best lyrics, rhymes and music and here it is:

"I think many Americans agree"

I'm not a Nas fan, but come on, you could say that phrase about anything and be right...
