Unanswered: Native American Rastas – Why the Supai Worship Bob Marley plus bonus The Wailers Band
Here is a link to my blog with an article by Roger Steffens on why the Supia Native Americans think Bob Marley is a god/prophet. I also added a live Wailers show from 1988 at the Hopi Land Reservation. 1Love!

Hey Marco, I don't think Bob ever meet any of the Native Americans from the 4 corners area, which is Utah, Arizona, New Mexico, and Colorado. It is possible he might have meets some when he played in Seattle which has a large Native community in that area.
And the singer is Junior Marvin.

I read somewhere (I think THE BEAT magazine) that Bob had heard of the tribe which saw him as the reincarnation of crazy horse, and was interested in meeting with them, but never got to

Hi Mom did make it down into "the hole" as the Supai call it. Tyrone also went.
My wife and I hiked down there about 10 years ago. In fact we had just left Roger's place in L.A. and he armed with a package of goodies in addition to the gifts I had packed.
In one way it's a typical Native American reservation. Very poor. Terrible eating habits which had lead to numerous cases of Type II diabetes especially in the children. I would estimate the number is Supai living down there to be about 200-500.
Many (but not nearly all) wear Marley t-shirts, play his music all day and night and have locks.
Most people make the long, hot hot hot hike to camp out next to the beautiful waterfalls. Only a very small select few (like my wife and I) make the trip due to the Bob Marley connection.
Here is a postcard we mailed to ourselves from down there. They happen to have the very last US Postal Mail delivered by Mule Train.
