Re: Bob marley - the ultimate listening guide
I was able to look on google books to see a sample of this book and to see what all the ebooks like this have to offer. Really it looks like nothing that has not been offered before either by Roger Steffens, Ian McCann, Harry Hawke, Jeremy Collingwood, Werner Kajnath, the community on this forum etc..
I was surprised to read this by the author: In referring to the Songs of Freedom boxset as being the easiest way to get a hold of Bob's early recordings....he states....
"Neither song, however, is exactly worth the cost of admission (referring to Judge Not & One Cup of Coffee). Across "Judge Not," the young Marley belts out his message of "don't throw stones"-and that is more or less it. Adding a recorder is a clever touch, but it mearly takes the edge off what would have otherwise have been a rather strident song."
What!? Do any of you feel the same way about 'Judge Not'? I really don't know how anybody could dismiss 'Judge Not' and when you factor in that it was written and recorded by a 16 year old ghetto kid...I'm amazed. It is an incredible song with incredible lyrics. I would challenge this author or anybody else to come up with a song of this calibre.
