INTERVIEW WITH MIGUEL RIBEIRO OF SECRECY
(by Ivan Serra)
1) What is your favourite Marley song?
That would be "One Love", for the message, for the music and for what it stands for. It?s a song that?s been there for years, i?ve been listening to it since my birth!
2) What do you think about Bob Marley as a musican, as a songwriter?
Is it enough to say that he was the original, a pioneer, an icon of past generations and generations yet to come? So far, everything else made in a Reggae style sounds a bit like Bob Marley and his songs still sell and are still heard and i?m sure they will be for many years to come.
3)Time magazine votet Exodus as album of the 20th century: what do you think about that?
It is undoubtely a mark, a taste of excelent interventionist music but still is like having to choose between Pel? and Maradona or Platini for best football player of the century. As much as we like it and think it really is the best, certainly other very good albums are left forgoten and surely as deserving as Exodus.
4) Did reggae or Marley's music ever influence your songs?
Maybe not directly but i think Marley?s music affects and influences each one of us as individuals and that obviously reflects even in our way of making music, at a subconscious level we all are influenced by him as person and as a musician.
5) Can you tell us something about your band?
About SECRECY, we are a Goth Rock band on the way to our second release. Our songs are, as you may agree, very deep, very touching. You don?t have to be in touch with your Gothic side to like our songs, they will surely mean something to everyone as they talk about love, romance, loss... All themes that you can easily relate to, mixed in a very pleasent, powerful and ambient like musical dressing. As the original ideas simply flow, all arrangements are thought and experimented to exhaustion, making sure that nothing is left to chance. I am sure that once you hear our songs you will feel the need to know more about SECRECY.
